Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL) is the partnership formed between SSE Renewables, Repsol Nuevas Energias UK and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. The site is located in the Outer Moray Firth on the north-western point of the Smith Bank, 13.5km from the Caithness coastline. The development is now fully constructed and operational, which provides energy equivalent to the needs of approximately 477,610 homes.
Siemens approached VolkerInfra, specialist cable and pipeline installation contractor operating both onshore, near shore and in the transition area between the two, in order to design, supply, install, connect and commission, two 220kV circuits, one for each of the offshore platforms currently located at the windfarm.
Work on site commenced in June and was completed in August 2017.
